STRESZCZENIE
Wprowadzenie implantów stomatologicznych stanowi jeden z najważniejszych przełomów współczesnej stomatologii rekonstrukcyjnej i protetycznej.

ABSTRACT
The introduction of dental implants represents one of the most significant advances in modern restorative and prosthetic dentistry. However, the growing number of implant procedures also increases the risk of biological complications, particularly peri-implant mucositis and peri-implantitis. These conditions may lead to progressive loss of supporting tissues and, consequently, implant failure. The aim of this article is to present the main risk factors associated with peri-implantitis and to describe the procedure of professional hygiene visits in patients treated with dental implants. Particular attention is given to the importance of regular monitoring of peri-implant tissues, proper oral hygiene practices, and professional preventive care. The role of the dental team—especially dental hygienists and assistants—in patient education, clinical monitoring, and early detection of implant-related complications is also emphasized.
